Next Step Co-Parenting operates on a retainer model to provide consistent, structured guidance for implementing an existing parenting plan and reducing conflict. Retainers allow parents to schedule sessions proactively and ensure clear, practical support throughout the engagement period.
Why a Retainer
A retainer helps ensure that both parents remain engaged and committed to the process, allowing guidance to be implemented consistently over time. It provides a clear structure for scheduling sessions, enables proactive support when challenges arise, and helps maintain focus on practical solutions that benefit the children. By establishing a defined period of service with dedicated sessions, the retainer creates accountability and continuity, so families can make measurable progress in following their parenting plan.
Upfront Payment – Retainers are paid in full before services begin.
Session Coverage – Each scheduled session counts toward the retainer, regardless of whether it lasts 30 or 60 minutes.
Scheduling Flexibility – Sessions may be conducted individually or jointly, all virtually, to maintain focus and structure.
Additional Time – If extra guidance is needed beyond the retainer, additional sessions or communication review are billed at $175/hour.
Unused Sessions – Retainers are designed to ensure commitment and predictable guidance. If sessions are not used within the retainer period (typically 90 days), the retainer may not be refundable.
Service Termination – In rare cases where services cannot be effectively provided (e.g., due to non-cooperation from one parent), a partial refund may be issued for unused sessions.
This structure ensures clarity while maintaining a child-focused, goal-oriented approach.
